Google & SEO
Help local customers find you on Google.
Start with clear service pages, accurate business information and a useful next step for the people searching nearby.
Start with what people need
A person looking for a local mechanic usually has a specific job in mind. They may need a service, a repair or help deciding whether the workshop can work on their vehicle. Your website should help them answer that question quickly.
Before writing more pages, list your actual services and the areas you genuinely cover. For each service, note the questions customers ask before they book. That is a useful starting point for deciding what deserves space on your website.
Get the local basics right
Google says local results are mainly influenced by relevance, distance and prominence. Accurate, complete Business Profile information helps it understand what a business offers. Keep your details and hours current, add useful photos and respond to reviews. You cannot pay Google for a better organic local ranking.
For a workshop, we would start by checking whether the profile and website agree on the business name, phone number, location and opening hours. A customer should not have to choose between two different answers.
Give each page a clear job
Describe the service in plain language, explain who it is for and make the next step easy to find. Add useful details from your own experience, such as what customers should bring or what information helps you prepare a quote.
Google recommends useful, organised content and links that help readers find related pages. Search changes can take time to show an effect, and following the guidance does not guarantee a particular ranking.
- Can a new visitor tell what service this page covers?
- Does it answer a real question customers ask?
- Does it explain the area you serve accurately?
- Can someone easily call, enquire or book?
Choose one useful improvement
For this week, choose the service you most want to be known for. Review its page and your Business Profile together. Fix missing or conflicting information, then make the enquiry process easier to follow.
Our recommendation is to build from that foundation. A small set of clear, accurate pages gives you something useful to review and improve as you learn which enquiries are coming through.
Make your services easy to understand, your business information accurate and your next step easy to take.
